Mollensoft's Reachability King Network Status Utility [Download Movie Here]
It is designed to be a comprehensive, network status checking utility; packed with extra functions and features. Once installed, you can intuitively keep track of your network's status (which computers or network services are up or down) by recursively pinging a computer or connecting to the network service provided by the computer (Web Server Status, printer status, Email Server status, etc) in your list. There are built in tests for many network services like Mysql, SMTP, POP3, {Email}, HTTP, {Web Servers}, FTP {File Transfer}, and other network services.

If you desire, the program can send an email to a standard email service or use it's own internal POP3 Email Server for discrete notification of system reachability problems, like when a system goes down or is no longer reachable. thats pretty handy!!

The User Interface is broken down into four separate Panes.
Pane1 is the upper-right pane that displays ALL of the current targets
Pane2 is the lower-right pane that displays the catagorized items based on what is selected in the pane 3
Pane3 is the far left window pane, that displays the reachability target catagories, like "Intranet",  "Internet" and "Servers".
Pane4 is hidden directly below Pane2 (the lower pane) and displays the real-time activity as it occurs. This pane is accessable throught the menu bar (See Below)

There are MANY features, but here are the highlights:

1. Reachability King can ping a computer, a group of computers and provide detailed information about the Network/Computers status
2. Reachability King Can Check the Reachability Status a Computer Service (like a web server) to see if it is running
3. Can be used to Warn Administrators if a System, Web Service, Database Server, Email Server or Server is no longer Reachable.
4. View Network Status From Any Web Browser because Reachability King has a built in web server. You can limit access to the Web Status by using password authentication if desired.
5. Reachability King Can Play an alert sound or send an email to a list of recipients if a system goes down (or Both if desired).
6. Comprehensive logging of ping events and web server activity. Also includes a "no maintenance" log rotator which automatically rotates the system logs when they slow down the ping engine.
7. Safe and reliable Pinging Engine, does not use host computers Ping API... will not cause system instabilities.
8. The Reachability attempts are and the associated data are all stored in SQLite databases and are searchable using standard reporting (ADO .Net Recordsets)
9. Each of the Reachability Targets are stored in an XML file for immediate retrieval, update and express the target’s current status availability

The system integrates Commonly Used network administrator tools such as route tracing and Host Resolving in a multi-threaded fashion so primary reachability testing is NOT interupted.

Pane 4 displays the real-time activity as it occurs. This pane is accessable throught the menu bar (See Below)

Target Creation and modification is simple and intuitive. You can have separate outage contact information for each target if you wish

Email to Contacts aids in maintaining awareness of Reachability status for administrators

This was taken using VMWARE Workstation 5.5 which I find to be an INVALUABLE tool.  You can normally see the video fine if you are viewing with Windows media player but if not, you may need to download the Video Codec (For Free From VMWARE Folks HERE).
